About American Hurricane
House
American
Hurricane House has developed a state of the art Proven and tested connector.
American connectors enable contractors to quickly assemble steel frame
structures for housing. Using aircraft design and technology, the designer
developed this system for several reasons. With the current rash of
hurricanes in the Gulf Coast area over recent years, the designer wanted
to develop a product that would stand up to hurricane force winds. Testing
verifies the ability to withstand wind speeds of 250 MPH on 24”
centers using American connectors and 18 gauge 6” C-channel. This
is critical in the effort to build homes along hurricane and tornado
impacted areas. With roof separation as the major issue, the American
roof is less likely to separate. Click HERE to view the eave connector
testing.
The American system also addresses a several other major issues. It
is estimated that there are 15 million homes to be replaced because
of the destruction caused by hurricanes in 2005. Traditional frame homes
require wood framing and days to frame up a home. Wood supplies for
framing homes are being quickly depleted and doesn’t even begin
to address the effect on the environment from harvesting so many trees.
The American system would eliminate the need for wood framing and the
slow down in replacing homes due to the lack of wood studs.
Cost is another major issue. The cost to manufacture the 3-Dimensional
Connectors to frame up a steel frame home is much less expensive per
square foot. The cost of the Connectors is offset by the labor savings
built into the Eave. This gives the Contractor a Certified 250 mph construction
at a huge savings on the cost to frame up a home. Understanding that
the cost of framing trim (Boxing in the end of eaves and bird house)
for a standard wood structure is $4 to $8 per square foot. It is actually
less expensive to build an American home. As a contractor you actually
get a certified wind load home at the same cost of standard framing.

Patents are pending on design (U.S. Patent and Trade Mark Office on
March 29, 2007 under publication No. US—2007-0068091-A1). We are
currently being certified in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama,
Georgia, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, North and South Carolina. American
will be certified for all wind loads necessary for those regions first.
American will also be California certified for earthquakes.
